History

Jin Shin is based on over 5,000-year-old knowledge of the body passed down orally

from generation to generation.  When it had virtually disappeared, it was rediscovered by a young Japanese man, Jiro Murai in the 1900s as he lay dying from an “incurable” illness.

His visions of the great sages revealed hand postures he mimicked and after 7 days,

he was completely healed.  He fell to his knees, thanked his Creator

and dedicated his life to the unearthing of his mysterious healing.

During Jiro Murai’s 50 years of tireless research, his explorations included the Chinese and Japanese Extraordinary Meridians, Chinese Elemental Theory, Indian texts, the Bible, the Kojiki (Japanese Record of Ancient Things), Astrology, Numerology, and beyond.  Murai experimented and observed hands on healing with the homeless population to the Imperial Palace.

He called this healing method 'Jin Shin Jyutsu' with literal translation: Human, Creator, Art, which reads “The Art of the Creator working through Compassionate Being.”

Murai passed this depth of knowledge to a Japanese-American, Mary Burmeister, to bring to America.

After 15 years of study, one day Mary realized, one can never completely know this Art of Healing and Living and declared “We are never the beginner or the master.  We are the BE-ing.”  Mary Burmeister began teaching in America in the early 60's.  Mary is responsible for translating and making this energy system of healing more accessible, so we can use and pass along these ancient principles to be used in our daily life.

Betsy Ruth Dayton, a first-generation student of Mary Burmeister, founded High Touch®  Jin Shin with the desire to “bring this simple yet profound system into the hands of everyone seeking the self-understanding and empowerment it can bring.” (High Touch Jin Shin Workbook 1)

In the late 90’s, I began my journey with High Touch Jin Shin.  Appling Jin Shin ‘quick releases’ and Flow sequences for self-help and incorporating into massage sessions, I observed a “deep letting go”, great relief and lasting improvements. Jin Shin’s safe, gentle, non-invasive touch is a welcome reprieve from our over-stimulated world.

In 2018, I began the 5 day basic workshops in Jin Shin Jyutsu. Jin Shin Jyutsu is the 'mother' name of High Touch Jin Shin.  These classes (plus special topic classes) are repeated over and over to continue to expand awareness and understanding of this deeply rooted, complex system yet, surprisingly simple application.

Spirit leads me to keep it simple and accessible to all seeking harmony.  Embodying my Truth to share this gift, One River Wellness evolved.
